Financial Support for Occupation Therapy Services
It can be confusing trying to work out what financial support you can access for Occupational Therapy services. There are several different ways to access financial support to cover some or all of your Occupational Therapy sessions and your local GP may be able to assist and support you in sourcing several of these:
Private Health Cover
Check with your individual fund to see if you have ‘Extras’ cover for Occupational Therapy. The fund may reimburse a certain amount of your Occupational Therapy fee. If you are entitled to a rebate, please discuss this with us prior to the session as some funds require the therapist to register with them specifically.
Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) $58.30 rebate
You can ask your GP whether you or your child would be eligible for an CDMP.
You can use the CDMP plan for 5 individual Occupational Therapy sessions and will be rebated a certain amount per visit (at present $56 per session) by Medicare.
*GP plan is required prior to your Occupational Therapy booking
Better Access to Mental Health Plan (BAMH) $82.30 rebate
You can ask your GP for a GP Mental Health Care Plan for psychological support. With a GP Mental Health Care Plan you would be able to claim up to 10 Occupational Therapy sessions a year.
*GP plan is required prior to your Occupational Therapy booking
NDIS
If you have an NDIS plan and it is a self managed plan you are able to self-refer and book an appointment straight away. Please discuss payment process with us.
